About This Video
Yarrow is a traditional wound herb-, it’s styptic, meaning it stops bleeding (due to the action of the alkaloid achilleine) and also anti-microbial so it keeps the wound clean and makes it useful against viral infections such as flu and colds as well as stopping beer going rancid when it’s used instead of hops for brewing! The leaves have lots of tiny leaflets, giving them a feather like appearance. They’re good in the kitchen as a salad or mild herb; the flowers give pungent aromatic flavour for rich, tangy or sour savoury dishes or anything sweet, including syrups or cakes.
